Maintenance and refurbishment of the Fischertechnik mini-factory at NOVA FCT, restoring the functionality of the production line simulator used for educational purposes.
Context
The Fischertechnik mini-factory at the NOVA FCT Department of Industrial Engineering and Management is a physical simulator of an industrial production line used as an educational tool for teaching and process simulation.
What we built
In-Nova was responsible for the maintenance and refurbishment of the system, aiming to restore and optimize the functionality of the installation. The work included a full diagnostic of the model’s condition, the replacement of damaged or obsolete components with compatible parts, and the technical rearrangement of elements with operational issues.
Additional tasks included cleaning and reorganizing the structure of the model, ensuring proper operation of the system while preserving and extending its lifespan as an educational resource.

“The maintenance project for the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management's mini-factory was, without a doubt, a real step outside the box. In In-Nova's Robotics area we are used to building solutions from scratch, working with microcontrollers, sensors and 3D modelling. Here we faced a completely different challenge: working on an existing system, with delicate components and physical constraints imposed by a structure that was already assembled. We had to step out of our comfort zone and adapt our approach, which turned out to be extremely rewarding. It was also our first completed project in direct contact with an external client, an experience that gave us a new perspective on communication, aligning expectations and delivering value.”
